UTM Link Builder

Generate custom Google Analytics UTM tracking links to track your marketing campaigns accurately. Build links for social media, email, and CPC campaigns.

UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are tags added to your URLs that allow Google Analytics and other analytics platforms to track exactly where your traffic is coming from. Without UTM tags, traffic from email campaigns, social media posts, and QR codes often gets lumped together as 'direct' or 'referral' traffic, making it impossible to measure campaign performance.

Our UTM Link Builder helps you construct properly formatted UTM-tagged URLs for your marketing campaigns. Simply enter your destination URL and fill in the campaign parameters, and the tool generates a complete tracking URL ready to use in your campaigns.

UTM tracking is fundamental to digital marketing measurement. It enables you to answer questions like: 'Which social platform drives the most conversions?', 'Which email subject line generated the most clicks?', and 'Is our print advertising driving online traffic?'

Best Practices

  • Establish a consistent UTM naming convention across your organization. Use lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces, and standardized terms.

  • Never use UTM parameters on internal links within your own website. This overwrites the original traffic source data in analytics.

  • Use the utm_content parameter to differentiate between multiple links in the same campaign — such as header vs. footer links in an email.

  • Document your UTM parameters in a shared spreadsheet to prevent naming inconsistencies across team members.

  • Consider using URL shorteners for UTM-tagged links in visible locations, as the full URLs with parameters can look long and unprofessional.
