Sitemap Generator
Generate XML sitemaps for your website. Add URLs with priority, change frequency, and last modified date. Download the sitemap file ready for submission to search engines.
An XML sitemap acts as a roadmap for search engines, listing every important page on your website along with metadata about when it was last updated and how frequently it changes. While Google can discover pages by crawling links, a sitemap ensures that no important page is missed — especially on large or newly launched websites.
Our Sitemap Generator helps you create properly formatted XML sitemaps that comply with the sitemap protocol standard. You can add URLs individually, set priority levels, define change frequencies, and specify last-modified dates. The generated sitemap is ready to submit directly to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
Having a well-maintained sitemap is particularly important for websites with thousands of pages, sites that are updated frequently, or new sites with few external backlinks to help search engines discover content.
How to Use This Tool
- 1
Add your URLs
Enter each URL you want to include in the sitemap. Focus on important, indexable pages and exclude URLs you don't want search engines to crawl.
- 2
Set priority levels
Assign a priority value (0.0 to 1.0) to each URL. Your homepage typically gets 1.0, main category pages 0.8, and individual posts 0.6.
- 3
Define change frequency
Specify how often each page is updated: always, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or never.
- 4
Add last modified dates
Set the last modification date for each URL to help search engines understand content freshness.
- 5
Generate and download
Click generate to create the XML file, then download it as sitemap.xml and upload it to your website's root directory.
Best Practices
Keep your sitemap under 50,000 URLs and 50MB in size. For larger sites, split your sitemap into multiple files and use a sitemap index.
Only include canonical, indexable URLs in your sitemap. Don't add pages that return 404, redirect, or have a noindex tag.
Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure it's being processed correctly.
Reference your sitemap in your robots.txt file using the Sitemap directive so crawlers can find it automatically.
Update your sitemap whenever you publish or modify content. Dynamic sitemaps that auto-update are ideal for active websites.
